‘Creation’ is a collection of modern classical instrumental pieces written and produced by Latvian composer Aija Alsina. This is her second full length album following her debut release ‘Domum’ on 2017. In this album she uses the combination of acoustic felt piano, string quartet and ambient textures to create intimate and emotional musical landscapes.

Here is what Aija says:
“Inspiration for this album was drawn from my journey to motherhood and from my both sons. Creation began around 2020 when I'd had enough time to accustom to the new setting of being now a mom of two, and I started to spare some little moments to reflect on my pregnancy and to actually sit down at the piano and start playing again. Making this record was a great mental retreat from my everyday chores, and it was a pleasure to recollect those emotions I felt through the nine months of expecting. With this album I am trying to tell my story of my pregnancy and explain my own motherhood. I found and still find a huge inspiration in watching both my sons grow every day.”

I'm reminded of something my grandfather Oscar told me that I never forgot. He said that he thought the cello was the only instrument that sounded the closest to a human heart...breaking.
